From Generic to Distinctive: A complete overhaul of a company’s brand design and website to help expand in a saturated market
About the Project:
Distinctive Interiors and Exteriors is a small home renovation company serving Pennsylvania and New Jersey, with plans to expand into Maryland. The company primarily works with homeowners and also handles business renovations. Most clients are referred by previous customers.
The company strives to be recognized for its commitment, expertise, and trustworthiness in a competitive renovation market. To support this goal, they seek a new logo that clearly communicates these values and distinguishes them from competitors.
About the Challenge:
The primary challenge is visibility. The home renovation industry is highly competitive, making it difficult for potential clients to differentiate between providers. While DI&E benefits from referrals, entering a new market remains difficult.
About the Process:
I began with the foundation of any company: The brand design. I compared five other companies’ brands and websites to find what was and wasn’t working, then confirmed my thoughts with users. I presented my findings and recommendations to the stakeholders and progressed from there.
About the Outcome:
The solution for branding and web design focused on two priorities: unique visibility and a modern aesthetic. By combining familiar builder elements with distinctive features, the brand demonstrates DI&E’s specialized services and differentiates the company. I replaced the previous generic design with a sleek, contemporary look featuring clean lines and shapes. Streamlined navigation and clear information ensure a smooth user experience.
